Amodel AT-1116 HS polyphthalamide (PPA) is a toughened, heat stabiized 16% glass reinforced resin, designed as a cost elfeclive soluion for applicalions requiring stifness, good dimensionalstability,chemical resistance and ductilty. This resin has a high heat delection temperature and a high flexural modulus, with greater tensile elongation than untoughened glass reinforced PPA. Typical applications include bearings, bearing retainers/cages housings, chemical procesing equipment components, motor frames, sporting equipment, lawn and garden equipment and components that require press-fit or snap-fit assembly.

Market Applications

For over 25 years, Amodel® has been used in automotive, electronics, consumer, and industrial applications. Amodel® has a long history of replacing metals (die cast Al and Mg) in a range of automotive applications, including thermostat housings, clutch cylinders, charge air coolers, heater cores and water pumps. Select grades with food contact and drinking water approval have enabled metal replacement in small appliances and plumbing components.

Food Contact and Drinking Water

Food contact (FC) grades of Amodel® PPA meet U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) regulations and EU Commission Regulation10/2011. They provide long-term performance up to 120°C along with resistance to common household cleaners, oils, hot water and steam. These materials do not impart smell or taste, and they are free from BPA and BLS.

Drinking water (DW) grades meet the requirements of independent global organizations, including NSF, KTW, DVGW, ACS and WRAS. These materials are compatible with nearly all parts of plumbing, heating and sanitary systems to produce non-corrosive, chemically-resistant products that extend service life. Amodel® PPA is also suitable for applications having intermittent exposure to hot chlorinated water.

PPA Amodel AT-1001L is an unreinforced, impact modified polyphthalamide (PPA) resin that exhibits exceptional impact strength at temperatures ranging from room temperature to as low as -40°F (-40°C), which suggests possible applications in ski boots and hockey skates. In addition, its chemical and wear resistance, combined with good mechanical properties, make Amodel® AT-1001L resin a prime candidate for applications such as anti-friction and wear resistant components, chemical, oil field, automotive and safety equipment.
